Learn Python coding over a pint on Tuesday evenings starting November 2nd. Bring your laptop for lessons with Scott, our instructor and developer.
Scott has relocated from Atlanta and brings experience teaching Python at the university level. Each class includes hands-on coding, time for Q&A, and optional homework to continue learning.
Why Python?
Python is currently one of the most popular programming languages for many reasons. It is beginner-friendly with a readable concise code style, and is platform independent to run almost anywhere (Windows, Mac OS, servers, mobile, etc.). Python has strong community support with hundreds of free open-source libraries, tools, and online documentation. It is used for data analysis, machine learning, computer vision, server-side web development, scientific computing including engineering and mathematics, and more. Those sound like a lot of promises but Python has a proven track record and history.
This is a fun, casual atmosphere open to beginners and those with some prior coding experience. New to Python? No worries! Scott will get you started.
Planned topics over the six-week period include:
-Tool configuration – Visual Studio Code (VSCode) installation and configuration for Python
-Foundation – variable types, conditions, for/while loops, string manipulation
-Lists / Arrays / Dictionaries
-Using a debugger, exception handling
-APIs, JSON data, explore several online data sources
Working with data files – reading, writing
We hope you’ll join us at Archetype-North at 174 Broadway Street in downtown AVL!
